I. A Message to All Marines from General Carter, Research and Development.

To all Marines,

The proper care and maintenance of your new armor is key to your survival in all hostile situations. The Mk. II is designed more from combat survivability than its former model, and as such requires less technical care, and more cleaning and stress testing. As such, bi-weekly a trooper must preform maintenance as outlined in manual 156-24-B2. (Training Manual: Imperial Marine's Guide to Proper Maintenance of Mk.II Class Stormtrooper Armor) Failure to preform these tests can lead to a fatal flaw coming about in the armor in a hostile situation. Safety is the key to Durability.

General Jack Carter,
Stormcorps Research and Development

II. Overview of Construction.

Mk.II Stormtrooper Armor plates have been designed with sturdier plastoid components, 18 plates and parts of this make encase the wearer and are the most essential part of protecting the user. Under these is a body-glove to grant basic water-tight protection for the user. The most sensitive systems are contained in the helmet, which include the following: A short-ranged comm unit for transmitting within 1 I.S.P.D.U., short-ranged low-light optics for darkened interior environments, and auto-adjusting polarized lenses to protect from sunlight and not hinder vision in interior areas.

III. Armor Plates and Body-Glove Function

I. Armor Plates- To put armor on, follow directions and order placed on the interior front plate of torso section. Failure to properly follow these instructions may and can result in an inability to place other parts on properly. Plastoid base material is treated to prevent warping, however, avoid direct contact with pH levels of 1 or lower, and 13 and higher.

II. Body-Glove- A black one-size fits all body-glove, graded to be water-proof, acid and base resistant (Avoid direct contact with pH levels of 1 or lower, and 13 and higher.), and which wicks sweat from the body, keeping the trooper comfortable during long-term armor use. The most important update in the Mk.II body-glove is its lack of vacuum-proofing to balance the cost of higher grade combat plastoids. Do not attempt to space-walk in armor which you are aware is designated Mk.II. Units which must undergo Z-G training will be afforded Mk.I units, but they are to be slowly phased out into the more practical TIE/mk.II Flightsuit.

IV. Helmet Function and Use.

i. Short-ranged Comm Unit- To begin broadcasting on a pre-set channel, reach up to the left temple on the helmet and press firmly against the region until your message is complete. To end broadcasting, remove fingers. To reassign your channel, remove helmet, reach inside to exposed comm unit and move dials left to right until proper designation is found. To redirect your helmet's comm unit through a platoon's long-ranged comm-pack, move within 5 feet and tap for broadcasting while the operator holds the line open via the modified forearm of his armor attached to his comm-pack.

ii. Auto-adjusting Polarized Lenses- Units self-adjust, but may be set to manual if desired, this requires the helmet to be removed and the button labeled as such to be pressed. The button is located just above the left lens. A dial is set at the bottom of the chin for this purpose, scale left to right in terms of intensity from low to high.

iii. Short-Ranged Low-Light Optics- Low-Light Optics afforded to standard Mk.II helmets is graded for interior use only, as range is a severe issue, allowing clear vision so long as it is unobstructed, for 50 yards. To enter low-light mode, press and hold the right temple of the helmet for no less than 3 seconds, and no more than 6. Close eyes to prevent initial flash of system boot to cause disorientation.

V. Variations of Mk.II Class Armor & Qualification Courses

* Unit is Available without Training for Limited Assignments, Assignment Environments may however Require Training Course.
**Unit Requires Advanced Course before Use
***Unit Requires Advanced Courses, and Maintenance Test before Use.

i. Mk.II Sandtrooper Armor*- This model contains a much bulkier SD-48 survival pack for the power and water containment of an advanced cooling system which pumps water cooled to seventy I.S.T.U.'s through a series of hoses attached to the body-glove of the armor. Armor plates are as standard Mk.I Stormtrooper Armor, with the addition of a heat resistant coating to aid in cooling. Survival packs also contain Mk.III Long-Range comms, allowing for redirection of personal comm signals through relays and thus to sparse settlements without the need for a non-portable unit, standardized water and food rations, and space to allow for additional supplies.

The helmet unit of Mk.II Sandtrooper Armor is constructed with the same heat-resistant coating, automatic adjusting polarized lenses, a breathing filter specialized for particulate, a standard short-ranged comm, and a low-light setting which allows watch to be set at night, but the range required for the particular optics to be effective on desert worlds with otherwise open environments drains from the back-mounted power pack at an accelerated rate.

ii. Mk.II Snowtrooper Armor*- This model is marked by a profound modification to armor plates, resulting from the need for a power unit to heat the user's internal bodyglove, and add insulation to this heated glove as to prevent melting of ice at a wearers feet. The armor includes an airtight white inner body-glove which is the focus of the suits heating systems, 18 insulated armor plates, with the chest and back plate containing basic heating systems for a limited duration, an outer layer of fabrics to better insulate the heat from the suit's systems, and a SD-47 survival pack housing the main heating unit, main power cell, communications unit, and a homing beacon, as well as storage space most often filled with water and food rations. In even the most frozen in-atmosphere environments, snowtroopers can function for two weeks without resupply.

The helmet unit of Mk.II Snowtrooper Armor contains a heating and humidifying re-breather, a standard short-ranged comm, auto-adjusting polarized lenses. Low-light optics are not present as in previous models due to the extreme risks assossiated with night-time movements on worlds in which snowtrooper armor is to be fielded.

iii. Mk.III EVO-Trooper Armor***- This model is designed for dedicated combat light assignments in hostile environments where the trooper could otherwise not survive without the assistance of the armor. Combat effectiveness is sacrificed for the installation of bulky, and complicated survival systems. Request specialized manuals 146-24-B2, 147-24-B2, 148-24-B2, and 149-24-B2 for complete details on armor components. Officers requesting unit training in EVO-Trooper armor are to contact TRADOC commander, Lt. General William Wallace, or a member of his personal staff no less than O-5.

iv. Mk.III Reflec Armor***- Request permission for Specilized Manual from a Superior Officer of at least O-4, and acquire with written permission from Quartermaster.

v. Mk.III Shadowtrooper Armor***- Request permission for Specilized Manual from a Superior Officer of at least O-6, and acquire with written permission from Quartermaster in the company of the permissed officer.
