PostSubject: Who is Martyr Ordo?   Mon Jun 08, 2009 7:28 am

I've come here and started this thread twice before and decided to quit. Martyr is a new character for me, and I'm still learning who he is. But I figured I'd share what I know for now.

I think of Martyr like a paladin. He's lawful neutral however, bound to his code. He is a type of Mandalorian called a protector, which is like a police officer or something like that, a protector of the weak and innocent. I sort of gave him the Spartan ideals of freedom and honor blah blah.

Anyhow, Martyr is secretly a Quarren. Originally this was because I like Cthulhu, and because Martyr's theme is being tough and the Quarren adds +3 Constitution! However after reading up on Quarrens on Wookieepedia I realized that they are pretty cool. Martyr can breath underwater, see in the dark, and has claws. The drawback is that he needs a certain degree of moisture to survive. This is provided by his fancy pants armor, which has an inner moisture layer. Why does he hide the fact that he's a Quarren? Honestly, things are just easier if people think you're a human. They're the majority, after all. That and Quarren heads are kinda ugly.

Martyr was born on Mandalor after his pregnant momma fled there due to some currently undeveloped danger in her previous homeworld. So he is in fact a Mandalorian, born and raised. Sadly his mother died in childbirth due to those complications that always seem to happen to sad bastard children's mothers, so he had Mandalorian foster parents who taught him how to be a badass--I mean, how to be a Mandalorian.

Martyr came to learn that he enjoyed protecting others, mostly through taking care of other peoples' bullies thanks to his natural Quarren resilience and Mandalorian training. He focused everything on defense, learning everything he could about protecting himself and others.

So then Martyr grew up and set off into the galaxy to see what he could see and find meaning to the whole mess called existense. Martyr is guided by his ideals, and often goes through life supporting one cause or another.

Currently Martyr is aiding the rebels in their struggle for freedom. However because he is devoted only to his ideals, his allegiance can change based on the current situation or the actions of those around him. For example the news of rebels attacking civilians has him -quite- aggitated right now, and he is considering abandoning their cause until further notice.

Martyr's hobbies including modifying his blaster cannon to take down ever-bigger targets, philosiphisizing, and combat training. He is a bounty hunter and a smuggler, but he only accepts bounty targets who are a threat to Mandalore, and only smuggles supplies through the blockade around Mandalore.

So, in a nutshell:

Martyr Ordo; paladin, defense oriented, Mandalorian, Quarren who likes big guns.

I'm sure you considered that to be a very sloppy, poorly written biography, but oh well--It's all yer' gettin' until Martyr becomes 100% formed in my noggin. A final note Martyr does not engage in romance because -I- am married and also because I have better things to RP besides fornicating. Therefore Martyr is actually married to the hot orange Twi'lek in the picture pack, but he is far too busy defending his ideals to spend time with her.

Feel free to post stuff here I don't mind. Feedback or information about Quarrens, Mandalorians, Mandalorian protectors or Clan Ordo would be appreciated.

Some updates:

Martyr has decided to paint the name of his ship along the side in green lettering: R'lyeh, which means "ultimate fate" in Mandalorian.

Through the combination of his armor, helmet, belt, and utility pouches, Martyr has everything you would expect Batman to have and then some.

Martyr has found a way to condense his cannon into the size of pistol, catching many opponents off-guard as the incredibly powerful blasts originate from such a small weapon. The downside to this is that the parts used in this burn out quickly, as the small pistol lacks the space for proper cooling and redundant safety features. Martyr now carries around a kit full of spare parts and the tools needed to fix his pistol on-the-go.

He has also decided to take along one particularly ferocious Kath Hound that he found on Dantooine. The beast showed a degree of honor when it refused to finish off an incapacitated foe, and so he decided to keep and tame the beast, calling it Dagon.

Martyr has decided to name his weapon after becoming increasing attached to it. Its name is the Mandalorian word for death, "Cthulhu".

Some information on Mandalorian armor, from Wookiepedia:

The helmet alone was the control center of most of the suit's abilities. A range finder attached to the duraplast armored helmet could track up to thirty targets, while a battle computer inside the helmet allowed the wearer to control the suit's weapons, sensors, and jet pack through verbal commands. The dark macrobinocular viewplate offered a variety of vision modes, including infrared. A pineal eye sensor on the helmet combined with an internal overlay display to provide tracking information within a 360-degree radius. Motion sensors, an encrypted internal comlink, and a broad-band antenna completed the helmet's devices, all of which could be linked to the wearer's weapons or their personal starship. The helmet could also act as a environmental filter system, with a two hour reserve tank providing breathable air to the Mandalorian warrior.

Martyr has built himself a second hand-cannon, and he calls the pair "Cthulhu Fhtagn" or "Hands of Death" in Mandalorian.

Recently Martyr's mercy towards his enemies has begun to fade, and he finds himself faced with thoughts of vengeance and anger. This has resulted in him maiming the corpses of the 3 enemy Imperials that he despises most. At first Martyr tries to redeem enemies that he meets, but if that cannot be achieved, these deadly enemies must be incapacitated or elminated.
